Water Recycling
The East of England is one of the driest regions in the UK and has been classified by the Environment Agency as a Seriously Water Stressed Area.
To help secure water supplies for current and future generations, we are investing more than £1.5 billion over the next five years, with water recycling playing a vital role in our plans. As part of this investment, our proposed Advanced Water Recycling Plant will be capable of producing up to 11 million litres of purified recycled water each day.
To help explain how water recycling works, we've added a simple stage-by-stage graphic below. This new resource was introduced in response to stakeholder feedback and is intended to make it easier to understand the important role water recycling will play in securing future water supplies.
